PRETTY VISITORS - Arctic Monkeys
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Tuning: Drop D
Starts with the awesome keyboard intro, which I'm not going to tab
(unless someone needs it (comment if you do)), and then verse:
RIFF 1:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------| X2
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|4---------4----4---------0---------0----0------------4---------|
"Tricking through the mor - ning the tramp with the trampoline
Under his arm, shifts past your whiskers"
It's actually played much faster than it may seem here, but as you will notice,
in the whole tab I tried to align the text to the tab so you can play it
with the song, so here the tab is kinda stretched out. This also makes the
text horribly disfigured in some places, but you'll (hopefully) get the
point. Just listen to the song and follow along. This part goes twice, then:
RIFF 2:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----2----2--2-------------------2----2--2----0---0--0----------|
D|------------------4-----4--4-----------------------------------|
"So stuck is the chum with the bar-king alarm, waits..."
Then it goes back to riff 1 once again, so the verse is 1, 1, 2, 1.
One more whole verse, and then it goes to the pre-chorus, which goes like this:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|------------------------------4--------5--------4--------5-----|
D|4------------4------------4--------4--------4--------4---------|
And then chorus:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------| X4
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|------------------------------4--5-------5-------5-------------|
D|4-------4-------4-------4--7-----------------------------6-----|
"All the pretty visi - tors came and wavdtherarms and
cast the shadow of thesnake - pit on the wall"
Two verses once again, and a chorus.
In the second chorus (in the studio version of the song at least) also comes
in Alex with a slide. Notice he's not using the 6th string at all, so
there's no reason for his guitar not to be in standard tuning. I'm not
entirely sure about this bit by the way, but it's just messing around with
the slide something like this:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------7/14\--------7/14\--------7/15\--------7/15\----------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------| X4
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
"All the pretty visitors came andwavtheirarms and"
This ends with:
[ Tab from: https://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/a/arctic_monkeys/pretty_visitors_tab_ver_4.html ]
e|------9/14-----------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
Here starts the other keyboard riff, with Alex sliding 9/14 and then 9\6 a
few times, until Jamie's part starts, which is the same keyboard riff but
on the guitar:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------| X4
D|----------------------------4--3-----------3--4----------------|
A|-------------5--------4--5--------5--------------4-------------|
D|----4----------------------------------------------------------|
On the second time Alex starts the solo (with the slide):
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------9\------------------9\-------------9/---11/---12-------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|-----------------------------11\10--------10/11----------------|
D|------------/12\------11/12---------12-----------11------------|
A|----9----------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
e|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------------------13/15--|
G|-----------------------------11\10--------10/11/13--------------------------------|
D|------------/12\------11/12---------12--------------------------------------------|
A|----9-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
E|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
"Be - hold as the crook in the hammock plays"
Then go two verses again, the first one just drums, and the second one with guitar,
which kinda just comes down to furiously tremolo picking the fourth fret
of the sixth string, lifting the finger and playing the empty string
kind of like the original verses. (Again, played faster than it seems):
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------| X4
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-4---4---4---4---0---0---0---0---4---4---4---4---4---4---4---4-|
And right before the final chorus this bit:
e|---------------------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|------------------------------------------------5--------------|
D|-----------4-----------4-----------4---------------------------|
Chorus (with both Alex and Jamie playing their parts).
Finally, Alex ends it:
e|------9/14-----------------------------------------------------|
B|---------------------------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------|
A|---------------------------------------------------------------|
E|---------------------------------------------------------------|
