This is my favorite song off of the new album, and like all Best Coast songs, it's
pretty simple. Besides the Em, it's all barre chords, and you should try to mute
the higher strings. Then again, if you're playing on an electric guitar with a
bunch of distortion like they are, you're probably fine either way.
Chords: (t=10, w=12)

Gm Em
I used to believe in diamonds and things
Gm Em
I used to believe in you and me
Cm Am Cm Am
But now I believe in no--thing
Gm Em
I used to wake up in the morning
Gm Em
And reach for that bottle or glass
Cm Am
But I don't do that anymore
Cm Am
Kicked my habits out the front door
Instrumental: Repeat Intro (this part sounds higher because Bethany is picking the
high e string in the same pattern: -3-3-3-3-5-3-0-0-0-0-0-0--(x2)--8-8-8-8-t-8-5-5-5-5-5-5-(x2)-)
The other verses are played the same way:
And I'm always talking to somebody else
She doesn't even know my face
I don't know how I feel
I'm all over the place
And when I go out I don't feel anything
I just keep on spending my money
One day it will be gone
And then I'll have to write another song
Instrumental (Intro)
What a year this day has been
What a day this year has been
Please don't get me wrong
I just don't know where time has gone
What a year this day has been
What a day this year has been
Please don't get me wrong
I just don't know where my mind has gone
Instrumental (Intro x2)
Outro: Vocal patterns adapted to the same verse structure. Listen and you'll get it easy.
End on Gm
