Cold Spring Tab

a great song by a great band. i haven't tabbed out the lead parts because
they are very complex and played differently in each performance. these
are the groovy rhythm parts. godspeed to planet rock, my friends.
capo on 7th fret (tab not relative to capo)

intro:

E||---------7------------7-----|---------7---------------------|
B||--------10-----------10-----|--------10---------------------|
G||----------------------------|-------------------------------|
D||------------7------------7--|------------7--------7-9-7-----|
A||--9--9------9-----9------9--|--9--9------9-----9------------|
E||--7--7------7-----7------7--|--7--7------7-----7------------|

-----------7--------------7------|-----------7--------------------|
----------10-------------10------|----------10--------------------|
---------------------------------|--------------------------------|
---------------7--------------7--|---------------7-------------7--|
--12--12------12-----12------12--|--12--12------12-----12--7-9----|
--10--10------10-----10------10--|--10--10------10-----10---------|

when all the instruments come in, just turn on the distortion and strum
these as chords:

E||---7----|---7----|
B||--10----|--10----|
G||---7----|---7----|
D||---7----|---7----|
A||---9----|--12----|
E||---7----|--10----|

until 'marching down a riverside square' at which point you do this:
E||---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
B||---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
G||---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
D||--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--|--17--17--17--17--17--17--17--17----|
A||--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--|--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--14----|
E||--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--|--15--15--15--15--15--15--15--15----|

---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
---------------------------------|-------------------------------------|
--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--|--14--14--14--14--14--14--14--14----|
--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--|--11--11--11--11--11--11--11--11----|
--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--|--12--12--12--12--12--12--12--12----|

then (all the way home):
E||---7--|--------|--------|---7--|
B||--10--|--------|--------|--10--|
G||---7--|--11----|--13----|---7--|
D||---9--|--12----|--14----|---9--|
A||--10--|---9----|--11----|--10--|
E||------|--10----|--12----|------|

then (as lives are punctuated by moons):
E||--------|--------|--------|
B||--------|--------|--------|
G||--------|--------|--------|
D||--12----|--11----|--12----|
A||--14----|---7----|--10----|
E||---7----|---9----|--10----|

then you jam on that for awhile til there's this guitar freakout part
for that basically just flail wildly on your guitar bumping into objects
and such.
then for the rocking NEVA LOVED YOU MORE THAN WHEN YOU SAID part play

these chords again (same as intro) except ROCKIN:

E||---7----|---7----|
B||--10----|--10----|
G||---7----|---7----|
D||---7----|---7----|
A||---9----|--12----|
E||---7----|--10----|

its definitely necessary with the above part to listen to the record to
get an idea of the strumming pattern, which is not so much strumming as it
is hitting... occasionally the 12th fret is hammered onto the e string w/
the first chord and b string with the second. again, listen to the
recording to get a feel for it.

and now the greatest part of the song...
on bear mountain...
to play this part, set your distortion louder than any reasonable person

could approve of and freak out around these chords:
E||--------|--10----|
B||---7----|--10----|
G||--11----|---7----|
D||---9----|---7----|
A||--10----|---9----|
E||--------|--10----|

after that, repeat the 'all the way home' part then bust into a rock out
with that same progression.

long live the cymbals eat guitars and rock on!
