Daddy’s Beer – Dave Gunning
This is my first time posting anything of this nature, but this is a great song from
Gunning's Christmas Album, which was released in October. A fun song to play at holiday parties!
Tuning is standard.
D
A Bm
I remember back when I was young, on one Christmas Eve,
G
D A
Mom and Dad tucked us in, and we drifted off to sleep.
D
A Bm
Sometime through that snowy night, old Saint Nick did appear,
G D A D
To fill our house with presents, and lots of Christmas cheer.
Bm A D
But morning came, and poor old dad, he just stayed in bed,
G D A
Face down in the pillow, that’s what Mommy said.
D A Bm
Daddy’s really sick about what Santa did this year,

G D A D
He didn’t eat the milk and cookies, but he drank all Daddy’s beer.
(Same chords for the next two verses)
My sister got a tambourine, and played it pretty well,
Me, I got a fire truck, with a shiny silver bell,
Little brother got a cap gun, with a realistic sound,
Shootin’ all the bad guys, to save our little town,
But poor old dad, he couldn’t move, we thought that he was dead,
Groaning like a grizzly, covering his head,
Daddy’s really sick about what Santa did this year,
He didn’t eat the milk and cookies, but he drank all Daddy’s beer.
Mom finally took her chance, to get Dad on his feet,
She wanted him to help us out, with the Christmas beast,
But as he tried to stuff the turkey, he turned white just like a ghost,
Still sad about what Santa did, last night I suppose,
Poor Dad was feeling terrible, about the man in red,
How could Santa do this, does he drink and drive his sled?
But Daddy’s really sick about what Santa did this year,
He didn’t eat the milk and cookies, but he drank all Daddy’s beer.
Bm A D
Now I know you might not all believe what Santa did this year,
G D A D A D
He didn’t eat the milk and cookies, but he drank all Daddy’s beer.
That's it, that's all... I hope you enjoy it!
