Mrs. Jones by Hole
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From 1991's 'Pretty on the Inside'. This is a frenzied monster of a song, some of Hole's
craziest and most abstract and violent work to date. It's all power chords and slamming
a few open notes, so it's pretty simple if you can get the rhythm and keep up with the
speed. Lots of distortion on the guitar here, and these riffs are played continuously
throughout the verses. All the tabs on here for this song are incomplete and messy, so
I've done some homework on it. Courtney's vocals are wild and the lyrics in it seem to
switch points-of-view as well; lots of gnarly verses and descriptions, but a killer song
in all of its chaos. Notice that the main riff ("Riff B") is a total rip-off of "Dark
Entries" by
Bauhaus— Courtney has admitted it herself.

Sorry man, sorry, sorry, I've got a bad eye
I shouldn't have, I shouldn't have looked at it
I, I shouldn't have looked at it
Go, go away, go away, on the sugar star
The sugar star and the abortionist and
Hey, you want her on the bed
With her legs wide open, her eyes all spread

Riff C
What is the matter with blackjack bones?
Oh, Mrs. Jones, aw, Mrs. Jones, aw
Cry me a river but just take me home
Aw, Mrs. Jones, aw, Mrs. Jones
Riff B
Sorry man, I got a gut, slit me
Fuckin' ran away with my abortionist
My little red-eyed black demonologist
The knife they used to, to gut my face in
It's been out stabbing baby, baby angels in
Smile, smile
Riff C
The skies are narcotic with blackjack bones
Oh, Mrs. Jones, please, Mrs. Jones
My virus is ragin', it's breaking my bones
Mrs. Jones, please, Mrs. Jones

Come, see mine
I will, I will follow you
Down the sick drain
When I lean on, on the sink
Don't worry, don't worry
Don't worry, baby
You will, you will never stink so bad
Riff B
Woah, I'm sorry man, I'm sorry
I shouldn't have looked at it
I'm sorry man
You're a night-blooming sickle cell
You're a night-blooming sickle cell
Carry it away, get it away
Look into the bloodroot you suicide bitch
It takes an hour like you to make me wanna live
Suddenly, I'm sorry man, I'm sorry man, woah
Riff C
The skies are narcotic with blackjack bones
Aw, Mrs. Jones, aw, Mrs. Jones
Come get your dog, it won't leave me alone
Oh, Mrs. Jones, please, Mrs. Jones
My virus is raging and it's breaking my bones
Oh, Mrs. Jones, please, Mrs. Jones, oh
Cry me a river baby, but just take me home
Oh, Mrs. Jones, oh, Mrs. Jones
Riff A
Sister ectoplasma, she's incredulous
Just like a pro, she takes off her dress
And she kicks you down in her snow-white pumps
And just remember, it was me who found the light
Can I, can I, can I?
Shit! Shit!
Yah, yah, yah, yah, yah
Shit! Shit!
East is east and west is west
And mine was you and mine was the best
And you are east and west is west
And mine was you and mine was
Mine was gold, Mrs. Jones
Breathe
I really, don't ask me again
Don't ever talk to me like that again
