What You Want Chords & Tabs
There are quite a few tabs here, all of them very good, but they're all in
open C tuning. I decided to rework the song into standard because it's a
hassle changing tuning so often if you want to busk or whatever. Not being
that good a guitarist though, I only translated the chords and not the riffs,
but I think it went quite well, so enjoy.
Tuning : Standard
Chords used : Cadd9 Asus2 Em Bm
e:0 e:0 e:0 e:2
B:3 B:0 B:0 B:3
G:0 G:2 G:0 G:4
D:2 D:2 D:2 D:4
A:3 A:0 A:2 A:2
e:x e:x e:0 e:x
F#5 G D/F#
e:x e:x e:x
B:x B:x B:3
G:x G:4 G:2
D:4 D:5 D:0
A:4 A:5 A:0
e:2 e:3 e:2
I included the D/F# chord because in the outro it sounds rather nice and
fits just about as well as the F#5 does, so just pick whichever you think
sounds best.
Intro/Verse:
Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em | Bm x6
Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
What you want to say,
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
Wait till you get home.
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
I'm sick of communicating over the
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
Telephone.

Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
But tell me how you feel,
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
I am lonely too
Bm Cadd9
Need you to know
Asus2 Em Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em | Bm
I'm just as cold & numb as you.
Bridge:
Cadd9 - One bar being the length of the four verse chords, play this for 8
bars. There's lots of fiddlyness here, which you could improvise, or figure
out from the many tabs.
Verse:
Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em | Bm x4
Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
But I could fly away,
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
Or I could be no one.
Bm
And you could be the
Cadd9 Asus2 Em Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
Sunshine falling over the Mountains
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
Or you could come today
Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em
You could come right home
Bm Cadd9
I don't see why I have to
Asus2 Em Bm Cadd9 | Asus2 | Em | Bm
Live this life all alone.
Bridge:
Cadd9 (Again, there's more fiddly guitar lines here, best to improvise or
have a look at the other tabs)
I know there is a way to make up for old Mistakes
I know what's happening is for a reason
Outro:
Em | F#5 | G | Asus2
Cadd9 x4
John starts singing as he plays the Em chord, and ends on the Cadd9 which
lasts a bar. If he sings words I haven't managed to decipher them, but if you
can get the tone with your voice the details don't matter here.
