Song: Cuando los Angeles Lloran
Artist: Maná
Album: Cuando los Angeles Lloran
Tabbed by: Jon
So all the other tabs were not quite accurate, so I’m giving my own jab at this.
First off, the intro (at least) is played on a classical guitar in a classical style. So
you’re self-taught,
like me, with limited to no classical experience, it might not sound right or good to
If you’re good though,
you can embellish and alter the following slightly to fit a more contemporary “rock” style.
As an addendum to that, it might sound like he is using a pick; he’s not, those are his
This is a
finger style song, so, again, if you’re trying to emulate his sound, then you’ve gotta
out your right-hand
fingernails (slash buy those fake ones at the store).
This song is played with a capo on 2, I believe. I never liked playing it with a capo,
after the
intro, so I had to change my way of thinking when I found out it does use a capo. In
I like to remove the
capo after the intro (there’s enough time). But I am trying to give the most accurate
tab here, so I’ll
give you how I believe he actually plays it.
p = pull finger off
h = hammer finger on
/ = slide to note
Okay, capo 2, standard tuning, chords and tabs relative to capo. Listen closely for
I’ve broken
it into the three most recognizably distinct parts to try and help.

Okay, into the song we go. I’ve lined up the pan flute and lead guitar parts for timing:
Verse:
GUITAR:
-------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------3---3-------
|--2h4p2h4p2h4--------------------2/4---4---4-----| (repeat this once more
|-------------------------------------------------| for second line of PAN FLUTE part,
|-------------------------------------------------| then repeat FIRST HALF ONLY
|-------------------------------------------------| before third line of PAN FLUTE)
PAN FLUTE (transcribed for guitar) (main melodic riff):

Then he starts singing:
GUITAR (listen for timing):
Bm A G D
-----------------------------------------------
-3-------2--3--5------0--2--3-----(“D riff”)---
|-4-------2--2--2------0--2--2------------------| x2

-4--4--4-------0--2----5--5-----------------------------------------
-----------------------3--3-----------------------------------------
Chorus:
GUITAR (relative to capo, remember; so “11” is really the 13th fret):
D G
-------10-----------10-------------10-----------10-------
----10----10-----10----10-------10----10-----10----10----
-11-----------11----------11-12-----------12----------12-

-------10-----------10------------12-10-9----------------
----10----10-----10----10------10---------12-10-8--------
-11-----------11----------11-9---------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
D G
-------10-----------10-------------10-----------10-------
|----10----10-----10----10-------10----10-----10----10----| (same as line 1 of chorus)
-11-----------11----------11-12-----------12----------12-
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------
D A
-------10-----------10------------9-10-9-------
|----10----10-----10----10------10--------10----| (end changes from 2nd line)
-11-----------11----------11-9--------------9--
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
((Then back to top of “Verse,” to play from there to here once again.
Chorus repeats once the second time through.))
Breakdown:
CHORDS (single strum, let ring):
Bm A Em Bm
--------0-----3-----2-------
--3-----5-----0-----3-------
--4-----6-----0-----4-------
|--4-----7-----2-----4-------| x2
--2-----7-----2-----2-------
--2-----5-----0-----2-------
LEAD GUITAR (start with switch to A chord, crescendo through second Bm, then fade):
----------------------------------------
-3-3-----3-3-----3-3-----3-3------etc---
-----4-4-----4-4-----4-4-----4-4--------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
Then he starts singing again, and the guitar is pretty basic:
CHORDS (with modified bass line in the middle):
Bm G D A Bm G D A
---------------------------------------------------0---
--3-----3-----3------------------3-----3-----3-----2---
--4-----4-----2-----6------------4-----4-----2-----2---
--4-----5-----0-----7------------4-----5-----0-----2---
--2-----5-----0-----4--4-5-7-5-4-2-----5-----0-----0---
--2-----3-----2-----0------------2-----3-----2-----0---
Then D G D A for rest.
And that’s pretty much it. You repeat some chords and sections, but the rest just fades
The lead guitar
is playing something underneath the lyrics, but it’s very difficult to tell exactly what
playing with all
the other instruments in the mix. So feel free to just play the Chorus over and over
he starts doing
sort of). But the chords stay the same (D G D A).
Hope this made sense. And hope it helps.
