The Singer/Bass player from Morphine, Mark Sandman, only had his bass strung with
2 bass strings,making the tuning X X D A low to high,and always played with a slide 
and a pick. A similar effect can be used on a guitar easily, since the strings were 
the 1st and 2nd strings of the bass, the pitches are the same as the bottom 6th and 
5th strings of a guitar. Use slide vibrato (moving the slide up and down the fretboard for
vibrato effect) as much as you want, but during the vocal part stay on pitch as best you can.
