"Prepare to Land" by
"The Supernaturals" from the album
"It doesn't matter anymore" on
"Food Records"
Transcribed by Gary Perkin, December 1997.
Not many words with the CD, so this is what they sound like to me.
Verse 1:
--------
G F
Isn't it about time, you faced up to the facts,
C G
That you and me are heading for the axe?
G F
Isn't it about time, we cut the safety net,
C G
And said goodbye to the bitterness and regret?
Chorus:
-------
Em G
A gulf has opened up between us,
Em
You have to face the facts,
Am Am7
the tyre's burst, you can't go back,
C (C? D7? D2? Not sure about this one)
We've used it up, there is no slack.
Verse 2:
--------
G F
Isn't it about time, we went our separate ways,
C G
And said that this old dog has had it's day??
G F
Isn't it about time, we brought the curtain down,
C G
On all the sad old dead-ends that we've found?
Chorus:
-------
Em G
The ground has opened up between us,
Em
You have to face the facts,
Am Am7
the tyre's burst, you can't go back,
C C
We've used it up, there is no slack.
Instrumental:
-------------
G G G G F F C C
G G G G F F C C G G
Chorus:
-------
Em G
A gulf has opened up between us,
Em Am Am7
You have to face the facts, the tyre's burst, you can't go back,
C (C? D7? D2? Not sure about this one...)
We've used it up, there is no slack.
Vocal fade-out:
---------------
Isn't it about time (isn't it about time) etc
Sung over the G - F - C - G chord sequence.
-------------------------------------------------------
So what about that C/D7/D2? Is it just a C, and the
bass line is confusing me? Not difficult...
-------------------------------------------------------
PS The underlying riff throughout most of the song is very
reminiscent of the "Start" (The Jam) and "Taxman" (The Beatles)
bass lines...
