TORI AMOS * w e d n e s d a y *
'Tabbed' by Tim Peeters, Haarlem, the Netherlands - version 1.0 , December 8th 2002

Written down for piano, can be played on guitar as well;loved this
song as soon as I heard it ! This is just a preliminary version consisting of
the basic main chords. All chords are tied together by a continuing bass-line
[ e.g. Gm and Eb are linked by playing a single F-note between those chords ]
which I hope to add to this transcript later. Note that both C and C minor chords
appear in this song, and that the pronunciation of some
words is stretched, e.g. "circling" is sung like "cir-ca-ling"
Please note : the rhythm changes from a up-tempo 2/2 beat in the verses
to a kind of funky 4/4
rhythm in the 'build' to a steady 3/4 in the chorus.
[ 2/2 up-tempo beat ]
[Gm] Nothing here to fear
[ Eb] I'm just sitting around being [Bb] foolish when there
is work to be [C] done
[Gm] Just a hang-up call
[Eb] and the quiet breathing of our [Bb] Persian
we call Cajun on a [C] Wednesday
[change beat to funky 4/4 ]
[ Tab from: https://www.guitartabs.cc/tabs/t/tori_amos/wednesday_crd.html ]
[Eb] So we go from [Bb] year to year
with [Gm] secrets we've been [C] keeping
[Eb] Though you say you're [Bb] not a Templar [C] man .... [Gm]
[Eb] Seems as if we're
[Bb] circling for [Gm] very different [C] reasons
[Eb] but one day the [Bb] Eagle has to [C] land
[change beat to 3/4]
[Eb] Out past the [Bb] fountain, a [Cm] left by the [Gm] station
[Eb] I start the [Eb] day in the [C] usual [Gm] way
[Eb] Then think "well [Bb]why not"
and [Cm] stop for a [Gm] coffee
[Eb] then begin [Bb] to recall [C]things that you [Gm]say
[change beat to up-tempo 2/2]
No one's at the door
You suggest a ghost
perhaps a phantom
I agree with this in part
Something is with us
I can't put my finger on --
is Thumbalina size 10 on a Wednesday --
so we go from year to year
with secrets we've been keeping
Though you say you're
not a Templar man
Seems as if we're
circling for very different reasons
But one day the Eagle has to land
Out past the fountain a left by the station
I start the day in the usual way
Then think -- well why not --
and stop for a coffee
then begin to recall things that you say
Pluck up the courage
and snap it's gone again
I start humming "When Doves Cry"
Can someone help me I think that I'm Lost here
Lost in a place called America
