WAKE UP DEAD MAN U2 - POP
Tabbed by: adambuko@hotmail.com-copied by darcyguitar@hotmail.com
Based on original tab by: hynesm@ozemail.com.au
This is the best way to play the song. The others were off the
mark. Tune down a half-step if you want to play along with the cd.
The rhythm given in the intro is the basic rhythm for the entire piece.
The spacing DOES NOT represent accurate time - I just spaced it so it's clear
- listen to the song to get spots that may be unclear - but it's pretty
much all based on the beginning rhythm, so it shouldn't be too bad.
I'm not too familiar with all the tab symbols, so here's a list of what I used:
q.=dotted quarter note
q=quarter note
e=eighth note
(#)=add the note indicated on the repeat
<#>=omit the note indicated on the repeat
[ ]=placed to keep time - see end of verse 2 for rhythm
>=strum/pick hard

There's the whole song. There are some small variations
I probably missed when the texture gets thicker, but this
should give you a pretty accurate tab of the whole song. Enjoy!

transcribed by ragecanx2 (ragecanx2@yahoo.com)
okay..here's the deal...i don't know what you people out there are drinking...but hmm
...after i play the transpcriptions for the song..they just don't seem right...so...
after sitting my ass down and listening to the song, i came up with this...to me,
atleast, it seems a bit closer to what other people have come up with...enjoy...
_________________________________________________________________________________________
i'm pretty much just gonna give you the shape of the chords...the rest is up to you...
-verse and intro-
A G F C G
e|----0-------|---0--------|---0--------|--------0---|---3--------|
b|---10-------|---8--------|---6--------|--------1---|---3--------|
G|------------|------------|------------|------------|------------|

A|------------|------------|------------|(0-2-)3-----|------------|
E|------------|------------|------------|------------|-3----------|
**play the stuff in () if you can...(or if you want)**
-chorus-
Am Am G D
e|-----0-0----|-0-0-0------|---3---------|-2----------|
b|-----1-1----|-1-1-1------|---3---------|-3----------|
G|-----2-2----|-2-2-2------|---0---------|-2----------|
D|-----2-2----|-2-2-2------|---0---------|------------|
A|-0-0-0-0----|-0-0-0------|-------3-2---|------------|
E|------------|------------|-3-----------|------------|
the keyboard stuff is pretty straight forward....i didn't take the time to figure it
out, seeming i don't have keyboard handy. Also, you can call me lazy, but the bendy
fills the edge does in the 3rd and 4th choruses are no brainers...it was done with
multi-tracking...so...you'd need another guitar to do it...and if you had two guitars
playing the song...the 2nd guitarist would be pretty damn bored...but, if you are a
creative soul, and have actually incorperated a 2nd guitar part here they are:
1st(e)|------12b14-12b14---|------10b12-10b12-----|
also theres a fill during the "listen" part it's a little sometin' like dis:
3rd(G)|--2/4--4/5--5/7--5/2------|
-lyrics-
Jesus,
jesus help me
i'm alone in this world
and a fucked world it is too
Tell me
Tell me the story
the one about enternity
and the way it's all gonna be...
-chorus-
Wake up
wake up dead man (x2)
Jesus
i'm waiting here boss
I know your looking out for us
but maybe your hands aren't free
your father
he made the world in seven
he's in charge of heaven
will you put a word in for me
(chorus x2)
Listen to the words they'll tell you what to do
listen over the rhythm that's confusing you
listen to the reed in the saxaphone
listen over the hum of the radio
listen over the sounds of blades on rotation
listen through the traffic and circulation
listen as hope and peace try to rhyme
listen over marching bands playing out their time
(chorus x2)
jesus
were you just around the corner
did you think and try to warn her
or are you working on something new
if there's an order
in all of this disorder
is it like a tape recorder
can we rewind it just once more
(chorus x2)
So, there you have it...the fills and stuff should be (as always) improvisational...
so shame on you for wanting to know exactly how something goes...always put your
own little something into the song...it makes it more worth it =)

In Eb, here it is. It involves picking chords. Slight distortion is used
during the chorus:
Verse: Am G F Dm C G
Chorus: Am G D
the Dm Edge plays is like this:
-----------------0--------------E
-----------------6-------------B
-----------------7------------G
-----------------7----------------D
-----------------5----------------A
Wake Up Deadman
from:Heiko Ziegler
Verses : Fis Fis Gism Gism E Cism H Fis
(I wrote the first Fis and the first Gism two times to give you a
better idea of the timing )
Refrain: Gism Fis
Instead of playing the Fis accord in the refrain you can play on the 2.,
1. and the 4. fret with the a-string (actually ,that`s what the Edge
plays ).
I have tried to fix a little bit on Wake Up...
This is my verson(some errors, but I'll correct them later)
Enjoy
I also have the bass-line to If You Wear...
here it is: G C(#?) A F E F G (and so on). it also contain an A in the bridge.
If any comments to the chords or my English, mail me
